Answer

Answer a. Anaphylaxis is mediated by IgE, which is produced by lymphocytes. In addition, histamine and several arachidonic acid metabolites are implicated in anaphylaxis; these are released by tissue mast cells and (to a lesser extent) circulating basophils. Eosinophils target primarily parasites; histiocytes and dust cells are both tissue-bound cells in the monocyte-macrophage lineage.
